For my friends with new waffle irons, or those who ran out of Bisquick (OK, I am speaking to someone specific, you know who you are; but this can apply to anyone interested) here is a recipe to make your own Bisquick at home followed by some next level waffle recipes. Please note that at time of publishing, these recipes haven’t been tested but that’s a fun follow-up.

HOMEMADE BISQUICK BAKING MIX
5 Cups All Purpose Flour (I used unbleached)
3 Tablespoons Baking Powder
2 Teaspoons Salt
1 Cup Shortening
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
2. Cut in the shortening. You can use a pastry blender, however, I find it easier to just use my hands to get it mixed in really well.
3. Store in an airtight container.
4. Use the same as you would use Bisquick in a recipe.
