Molded from found objects and cast in beeswax, Noe Valley Candle Company candles are a premium organic product created in the Noe Valley neighborhood of San Francisco (that’s in California). The first six candle designs are divided into two sets, the “Debut” and the “Industrial”.
Whereas paraffin wax is created as a byproduct of petroleum (fossil fuels/crude oil) and therefore not a renewable resource, beeswax is created by… (wait for it)…bees! Beeswax burns longer and with a brighter light than paraffin candles, and is cleaner burning. Paraffin wax candles produce a smoke which can contain toxins and will leave a soot on your walls. The benefits of burning beeswax candles don’t stop there; there are holistic (i.e. hippie) reasons to burn them as well: studies show that beeswax candles emit negative ions, which can help clean the air from allergens.
The wicks used by the Noe Valley Candle Company are also important. Made from 100% cotton, our wicks do not contain any zinc or lead that can be released into the air when you burn the candles. A large percentage of time experimenting was to determine the exact wick-to-wax ratio resulting in as little drip from the candle as possible. As with all candles, Noe Valley Candle Co. candles should be burned on a protected surface.
Currently the candles sold by the Noe Valley Candle Company are not produced with any additional scented oils, allowing the natural light honey scent to come through. In the future I will be experimenting with other scents and will post updates on those when they are ready.
